The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have now responded to my enquiries about Barugh Green crossroads and Staincross.
While RoSPA said it could not comment on the ongoing coronial process, it stated that PIC data should not be considered in isolation when assessing road safety.
I’m pleased that RoSPA said that PIC data shouldn’t be the only factor used when deciding whether action is needed, because local residents often spot problems before they show up in the numbers.
While it’s understandable that RoSPA wasn’t able to offer advice on the ongoing coronial process, I wanted to leave no stone unturned.
If there’s an opportunity to seek independent expertise or explore another avenue that could help move things forward to help my constituents, I’ll always do it.
As an MP, I can’t instruct the council to carry out road safety improvements, but I can make sure residents’ voices are heard. I’m always happy to raise residents’ concerns with the council and press for them to be properly considered.
